This is so THE BEST Western Restaurant that I’ve tasted in New Zealand. I mean there’s no official rating of any sorts, hahaha! but at least it suits my taste… I simply just LOVE IT!

This restaurant is located at Lindale Farm, Paraparaumu. It’s on the way up north of Wellington, probably about 45 minutes away from the city centre. So if you do visit Lindale Farm for the animals and Kapiti Ice Cream, then I don’t think you should missed out this restaurant! It’s worth the try!

HOWEVER THOUGH.. this is SERIOUSLY like a 2 years BELATED POST!!!! And I just FOUND OUT that Paul’s Restaurant is no longer in business…. smudge!!!!! WHat a shame… anyway, here’s some pictures of what we’ve eaten in the past.

My company organized a Hospitality and Tourism Fair at Pullman Hotel….

We invited the Le Cordon Bleu’s alumni, Chef Enzo to be doing cooking demonstration on the spot. But due to the hotel’s restrictions, the chef can’t quite cook up the place though. hah! So we had to do quite a bit of food preparation the night before…..

As culinarians, we try to create the perfect balance between the four basic tastes: sweet, salty, sour, and bitter. As diners, however, we have all experienced that intensity that somehow eludes definition: that enigmatic fifth taste known as Umami. Yet up until the nineteenth century, the Western world believed that our mouths could not sense anything beyond the basic four tastes. In actuality, however, our ability to perceive other tastes has been known throughout the world for thousands of years. In ancient Greece, Aristotle identified seven basic tastes: sweet, salty, sour, bitter, spicy, astringent, and sandy. As early as 1000 B.C., the Chinese documented five basic tastes whereas believers in ancient Indian yogic principles identified eight. Nevertheless, these early classifications were based more on observation than scientific fact…

It was a rainy afternoon, well rather… anytime 3 of us wanted to visit Mr Ho for lunch.. it’s always rainy… we wonder why…. we would start eating when it’s raining and when we finished our meal, the rain stops! ARGH!

The Apartment @ The Curve, Mutiara Damansara

What a unique concept. The entire cafe was designed like an apartment. Every little corner has some sittings… different parts of the apartment, the bedroom, the toilet, the living room etc….. I quite like this place. ;) Unique Unique!

(it’s Halal. Open from 11.00 am to 11.00 pm. I heard there’s a bar on the 1st Floor, but I didn’t check it out though.)

Everyone’s concentrating on what to order for their empty tummy! If only we’re all that attentive when we’re sitting for our exams or listening to lectures in Uni days, huh?Can you see the settings around us? It’s a TOILET! we were dining in the bathroom! hahaha! well, that’s the only spot left when we arrived.

Braised lamb shank sitting on parsnip and potato mash with red wine and lamb reduction

Chicken & Mushroom Pasta ~ RM23.90

Spaghetti with Sauteed chicken and portobello mushrooms with white wine garlic, chilli, cherry tomato and garlic.

Baked Fish

Baked Dory Topped with cherry tomatoes with gratin of mozarella and paramesan with saute new potatoes. I think this is the best among all the rest of the dishes for that night itself! I love the taste! Rating: 10/10 ~ RM22.90

Chicken With Peach & Walnut ~ RM25.90

Roast chicken in peach and walnut sauce with mash potato

Piquant Cream Grilled Chicken ~ Rm24.90

grilled chicken, creme fraiche, mustard seed and green peppercorn with sauteed garlic spinach and dill mash….

My personal opinion? I think they’ve done a great job for all the sauces that came with the dish! It’s FANTASTIC! Taste great! mmmm…. LURVEEEEE IT!

The above is where we went… The Venetian…..

Our initial plan is to visit The Venetian to check out the “gambling” situation (no, I don’t gamble)….. then we thought before checking out those place, we should have our dinner first. So we chose 3 Monkeys, as one of our colleague that travel with us wants Halal Food!

This jungle-like retreat at the Grand Canal Shoppes is a great place for children. 3-Monkeys serves American, Mexican, Italian and Asian dishes. It is also one of just a few restaurants in Macao to serve halal food.

The food at 3 Monkeys were alright. It’s more “Mexicany” taste…. I think. Even the music and the uniform the waitress wear. Whatever it is… what caught my attention were the 3 GIGANTIC MONKEY plush toys… hahaha! so cute!

It wasn’t served warm. it was quite cold. And it took them donkey ages to get it ready. Thereafter, we told them to get it reheated again.

It was alright. I quite like the sauce. Flavors of Tarragon, Cream & Lemon Juice.

I can’t remember the price though… I think it was at the range of HKD$250, if I’m not mistaken…… yes, it’s not cheap!

Carribean Chix

Marinated Chix breast in spicy sauce

Rating: 7/10

it taste kinda similar with Tarragon chix, just different sauce. Price is also about HKD$250.

I can’t remember what’s this though…… urghsss…. let me recall…

Chicken Fajitas

Not sure how this taste like though….. HKD$250

King Kong Hot Beef Ribs

Price: HKD$300, Rating: 6/10

The meat was a little too dry to my liking though….

The New Yorker Steak

Rating: 9/10

This was great! it cost about HKD$280! But the meat was really tender! Yummm!

The night was fun! With lots of jokes and laughter! Talking about how the British, American, Singaporean and Malaysian pronounce English wordings ;) Fun fun fun!

Just a quick note, I just noticed today (2010, Jan30th) that Java Juice Cafe is no longer there… mmm it’s been turned into another cafe…. ahhh… I guess there’s no more Java Wings then… Bummer!
